Highly rare and especially beautiful vintage double-weight black and white glamour portrait, apparently trimmed down from a slightly larger size to 6.75 x 9.5 inches for framing purposes, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain for English theater figure and famed autograph collector A.R. Davis in the late 1940s. A few minor creases, essentially invisible when the photo is viewed head-on, except for one slightly more evident crease to the upper left-hand corner tip; otherwise, in good condition for its age. Smoldering actress and model Hazel Brooks, who made headlines at age 19 when she married 51-year-old Cedric Gibbons, was memorable in a mixed bag of A- and B-pictures, including Du Barry Was a Lady (1943), Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo (1944), Ziegfeld Follies (1945), The Harvey Girls (1946), Body and Soul (1947), Sleep, My Love (1948), The Basketball Fix (1951), and The I Don't Care Girl (1953). This is just the second signed portrait of the actress we have encountered in over 35 years, and is the only one we have seen dating to her Hollywood heyday.
