Rare vintage 8x10-inch black and white portrait in her prime-- just the third we've encountered in over 35 years-- boldly signed and inscribed with her full married name to a well-known collector in black ballpoint pen in the late 1970s or early 1980s. Angling to the light shows two creases, one to the left border and one beneath her chin, but these are essentially invisible when the photo is viewed head-on. Otherwise, in good condition. Pretty Amanda Duff made only 8 films between 1938 and 1941 before vanishing from the screen, remembered by horror buffs for her portrayal of Anne Blair, opposite Boris Karloff as Dr. Julian Blair, in the horror flick The Devil Commands (1941). She was elsewhere noteworthy in Just Around the Corner (1938), Mr. Moto in Danger Island (1939), The Escape (1939), and City of Chance (1940).
