Highly scarce original vintage 8x10-inch black and white publicity portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in red ballpoint pen in 1981. A gentle crease to the lower area and a long crease running from the upper right-hand border into the middle right side, both mostly invisible when the photo is viewed head-on. Nice anyway, but still priced accordingly. Comic Black character actor Stepin Fetchit portrayed scores of lazy, inarticulate valets, train conductors, porters, and other servant types, drawing criticism in later years for possibly promoting negative stereotypes of African-Americans. His many memorable film credits include In Old Kentucky (1927), Show Boat (1929), The Galloping Ghost (1931), Stand Up and Cheer! (1934), Charlie Chan in Egypt (1935), Dimples (1936), Big Timers (1945), Bend of the River (1952), and The Sun Shines Bright (1953).
