Uncommonly early 5x7-inch sepia-tone portrait, boldl signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen in-person for inveterate collector Howard Davis at Boston's Colonial Theater in the 1930s. In good condition. Autographed portraits of the homely character actress dating to the era in which she played the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz (1939), rarely surface on the market. She made several other contributions to the horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres, playing Elaine Zacharides in William Castle's 13 Ghosts (1960) and Morticia's mother, Mrs. Frump, on T.V.'s "The Addams Family" (1965-1966).
