Cat. #0014922: CEDRIC HARDWICKE

Scarce and nifty vintage 8x10-inch sepia-tone publicity portrait as the nasty Earl of Warwick in Nine Days a Queen (1936), the story of the brief life of Henry the VIII's doomed wife Lady Jane Grey, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen. In fine condition, with gentle edge wear. Great English stage and screen character actor Cedric Hardwicke is revered by horror and sci-fi fans for his portrayals of Broughton in The Ghoul (1933), Theotocopulos in Things to Come (1936), Frollo in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939), Richard Cobb in The Invisible Man Returns (1940), Ludwig Frankenstein in The Ghost of Frankenstein (1942), and Conrad Stauffer in Invisible Agent (1942). He also provided the distinctive narration for The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945) and The War of the Worlds (1953).
