Uncommonly early fountain pen signature on a 4x5-inch tan autograph album page, acquired in-person by inveterate collector Howard Davis at Boston's Colonial Theater in the late 1930s or early 1940s. In good condition, with no trimming. Best remembered for her portrayal of squeaky-voiced Prissy in Gone with the Wind (1939), Black character actress Butterfly McQueen played similarly anxious, frenetic servant types in films like The Women (1939), Affectionately Yours (1941), A Cabin in the Sky (1943), I Dood It (1943), Mildred Pierce (1945), Flame of Barbary Coast (1945), Duel in the Sun (1946), Killer Diller (1948), Amazing Grace (1974), and The Mosquito Coast (1986). On television, she played Oriole on "Beulah" (1950-1953). The actress died tragically in a house fire in 1995, ignited when a she brought a kerosene lantern too close to her dress.
