Scarce and beautiful vintage 7.3 x 9.3-inch matte-finish black and white portrait by Hal Phyfe, signed and inscribed in brown fountain pen, around 1929 or 1930. In good condition, with the borders trimmed away for framing purposes. Wildly popular torch singer Helen Morgan created the role of Julie in the first and second Broadway productions of "Show Boat" (1927, 1932), which she later reprised in the acclaimed film version of 1936. She died of cirrhosis of the liver at age 41 and her autograph is rather elusive in any format.
