Extremely rare vintage inscribed black fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch tan album page, acquired in-person following a play appearance in 1944 and decorated with a small newspaper image. In good condition and just the fifth example we have encountered in nearly 40 years. Note that the image of the star shown here alongside the scan of the signed piece is not included. A noted vaudevillian and theatrical character actress, Jean Adair was 71 when she was invited to Hollywood to recreate her stage role as Martha Brewster, one of Cary Grant's two murderous, dotty old aunts, in Arsenic and Old Lace (1944). She appeared in just one or two television roles before her death at 79, and her autograph is virtually nonexistent in any format.
