Cat. #000303123: NICK ADAMS

Highly rare vintage black ballpoint pen signature-- especially desirable, as it is uninscribed, as was unusual for him-- on a 3x5-inch portion of a tan album page, acquired in-person by a busy autograph hound in the 1950s. In good condition, with a handwritten notation to the lower area, and suitable for matting with a favorite photograph. Good-looking Nick Adams was memorable as Andy Griffith's nerdish air force buddy in No Time for Sergeants (1957) and the would-be seducer of Doris Day in Pillow Talk (1959) before landing his most famous role as ex-Confederate soldier Johnny Yuma on the popular T.V. western "The Rebel" (1959). After an Oscar nomination for his performance as a surly murder suspect in Twilight of Honor (1963), his career collapsed, and he died of an overdose at the age of 36, possibly due to a suicide, but speculation persists that the star was actually murdered.
