Cat. #000311: ADRIAN

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Exceptionally rare vintage inscribed black fountain pen signature on an irregularly-trimmed 4 x 5.5-inch tan autograph album page, acquired in-person at New York City's St. Regis Hotel in 1941, as per a notation by the original collector on the verso. In fine condition, beyond the uneven trimming, which grazes the final letter of the inscription, and decorated with five magazine images. Legendary costume designer Adrian, who drank himself to death at age 56, created the looks of all of the unforgettable characters inĀ The Wizard of Oz (1939)-- to name but one film to which he lent his talents-- including Dorothy's iconic ruby slippers. This is just the second example of his autograph we have ever offered.
