Charming vintage 3.25 x 5.5-inch color-tinted English postcard portrait, boldly signed in black fountain pen in the late 1920s. In good condition for its age, with gentle edgewear. English-born actor, author, playwright, and filmmaker George Arliss was the first Brit to win an Academy Award, for 1929's Disraeli, and was nominated for a second Oscar the following year, for The Green Goddess. He was elsewhere memorable in Alexander Hamilton (1931), The Man Who Played God (1932), The Iron Duke (1934), The House of Rothschild (1934), Cardinal Richelieu (1935), and East Meets West (1936).
