Cat. #00045811: BARBARA BATES

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Highly rare vintage violet fountain pen signature on a 3x5-inch off-white card, acquired in-person in the 1950s. In very good condition and excellent for matting with a favorite photograph. Beautiful actress and singer Barbara Bates, who gained a sort of immortality as the obsessed fan who gives Eve Harrington a taste of her own medicine in All About Eve (1950), was also memorable in Strange Holiday (1945), Salome Where She Danced (1945), April Showers (1948), Johnny Belinda (1948), June Bride (1948), Adventures of Don Juan (1948), Quicksand (1950), Cheaper by the Dozen (1950), House of Secrets (1956), and Apache Territory (1958). Sent into a terrible depression by the death of her husband, she abandoned acting and ultimately committed suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning at the age of 43. Her autograph is, understandably, extremely uncommon in any format.
