Cat. #0005273: OLIVE BORDEN

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

From the excellent in-person autograph collection of Jesse Kelly, who worked as an usher at Baltimore, Maryland's majestic Stanley movie palace comes this exceedingly rare vintage 8x10-inch double-weight sepia-tone portrait, boldly and warmly signed and inscribed for his mother in blue fountain pen in 1929. In good condition for its age, with one minor thumb stain in the upper left-hand corner. Dubbed "The Joy Girl," beautiful, raven-haired silent movie vamp Olive Borden failed to make a successful transition to talkies-- partly because virtually no one in the business could get along with her-- and, by the time of her tragic death of pneumonia at the age of 41, she was penniless and living in Los Angeles' Sunshine Mission.
