Cat. #000982321: JULIE CHRISTIE

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Alluring vintage 8x10-inch black and white bikini portrait in her prime, boldly signed in violet fountain pen in the 1970s. In good condition. Luminous leading lady Julie Christie is known for both her onscreen magnetism and off-screen reclusiveness. She made her screen debut in Crooks Anonymous (1963), and went on to memorable work in Billy Liar (1963); Young Cassidy (1965); Darling (1965), for which she earned an Academy Award; Doctor Zhivago (1965), in which she gave a radiant performance as the tragic Lara; Truffaut's Fahrenheit 451 (1967); Far From the Madding Crowd (1967); McCabe and Mrs. Miller (1971), which brought her second Oscar nod; the horror classic Don't Look Now (1973); Shampoo (1975); Demon Seed (1975); and Heaven Can Wait (1978). Between the late 1970s and mid-1990s, the actress all but vanished from the screen, devoting herself to political issues. She made something of a comeback in 1996, dazzling as Gertrude in Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet, after which she earned further Academy Award nominations for Afterglow (1997) and Away from Her (2006). She was also memorable as Madame Rosmerta in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in 2004.
