Cat. #001040112222: CHARLES COBURN

Vintage black fountain pen signature on a 2x5-inch off-white card, acquired in-person by a busy New York City-based autograph hound in the late 1940s and decorated with a small magazine image of the star. In good condition for its age, with a few negligible bits of soiling around the writing. Irascible Charles Coburn was one of Hollywood's all-time great character actors. He snagged an Academy Award for his standout performance in The More the Merrier (1943) and was elsewhere unforgettable in Boss Tweed (1933), Of Human Hearts (1938), The Story of Alexander Graham Bell (1939), The Devil and Miss Jones (1941), The Lady Eve (1941), In This Our Life (1942), Heaven Can Wait (1943), The Paradine Case (1947), Monkey Business (1952), and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953).
