Extremely rare signature in brown ink on a 1.5 x 4.5-inch clip from the close of a letter, circa the 1830s, affixed to a slightly larger piece of lightweight cardboard: "Ever most truly yours / Coleridge", in the more rushed hand of his final years. In good condition, with the faintest of mailing folds and gentle toning. Legendary poet, literary critic and philosopher Samuel Taylor Coleridge is considered the co-founder of the English Romantic Movement, alongside William Wordsworth. Manic-depressive and opium addicted, his brilliant, frenetic mind dreamed up the immortal poems Kubla Khan, and the fantasy- and horror-themed The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
