Impossibly rare vintage inscribed signature in fountain pen on a 3-1/3 x 6-1/3-inch beige autograph album page, acquired in-person on May 22, 1928.  In good condition and nice for matting.  Distinguished Hungarian-American film director Michael Curtiz snagged an Oscar for Casablanca (1942), and created other iconic Hollywood classics like 20,000 Years in Sing Sing (1932), Black Legion (1937), Kid Galahad (1937), The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938), Angels with Dirty Faces (1938), The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Sussex (1939), Santa Fe Trail (1940), Yankee Doodle Dandy (1942), Mildred Pierce (1945), Night and Day (1946), White Christmas (1954), and Elvis' King Creole (1958).  He is further revered by fans of the horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and mystery genres, for the thrilling masterpieces The Mad Genius (1931) with John Barrymore and Marian Marsh; Doctor X (1931) and Mystery of the Wax Museum (1931) with Lionel Atwill and Fay Wray; The Kennel Murder Case (1933) with William Powell; and The Walking Dead (1936) with Boris Karloff.  He also helmed two Hungarian silent horror films, Alraune (1918) and Drakula Halala (1921).  Curtiz was apparently not very fond of giving autographs, and a check of auction records indicates that whatever little autographed material that has surfaced over the past decade has sold in the range of $400-$600, regardless of format!  This is just the third example we have seen in 30 years.
