Scarce vintage signature in blue fountain pen on a 3x5-inch tan card, acquired in-person, probably in the late 1950s.  In very good condition and ideal for matting with a favorite photograph.  Stage and movie director, actor and writer Carter DeHaven was a regular in silent comedy shorts through 1923, often working alongside Charley Chase and his wife, Flora Parker DeHaven.  The 1927 short Character Studies showcases DeHaven's celebrated quick-change abilities, as he transforms himself in seconds into the spitting image of various major film stars of the era:  Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, Douglas Fairbanks, Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle, and Jackie Coogan.  He went on to serve as assistant director of Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times (1936) and assistant producer for The Great Dictator (1940), in which he also hilariously played the Bacterian Ambassador.  His last screen role was on T.V.'s "Betwitched" in 1965.
