Exceedingly rare vintage 7 x 9.5-inch borderless matte-finish portrait by Harcourt, signed and dated 1953 in black fountain pen. A hint of fading to the ink; a paper clip impression in the background at the top left; and a small surface chip at top left corner. Jean Gabin was one of the giants of French cinema. Perhaps best known for his portrayal of Inspect Maigret, he was unforgettable in classic films like La Grande Illusion (1938), Port of Shadows (1938), Le Jour se Lave (1939), Touche Pas au Grisbi (1954), and Les Miserables (1958).
