Remarkably early 3.25 x 5.5-inch sepia-tone English postcard portrait, boldly signed in blue fountain pen at the very onset of his movie career, in the late 1930s. This is the earliest example we have ever encountered. In good condition. Two-time Oscar-nominated silver screen anti-hero John Garfield was unforgettable in films like The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946), Body and Soul (1947), Gentleman's Agreement (1947), and Force of Evil (1948) before his tragic death of a heart condition at the age of 39.
