Cat. #0014813: LARS HANSON

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Highly rare vintage 3.5 x 5.5-inch sepia-tone postcard portrait, boldly signed in India ink in the 1920s. In fine condition, with smudging to the final letter of his surname. Swedish leading actor Lars Hanson came to international prominence in The Saga of Gosta Berling (1924), opposite Greta Garbo, leading to both acquiring M.G.M. contracts in the United States. He gave outstanding performances in silent classics such as The Scarlet Letter (1926), Flesh and the Devil (1926) and The Wind (1928). The advent of sound effectively ended his Hollywood career, and he returned to Sweden, where he appeared in a few more films and became one of Sweden's most formidable stage actors. Autographed material in virtually any format is extremely elusive.
