Rare vintage inscribed green fountain pen signature on a 4x5-inch tan autograph album page, acquired in-person in the 1940s and decorated with a small magazine image. In good condition, with a fold down the center, not affecting the writing. Note that the image of the star shown here alongside the scan of the signed piece is not included. Great, matronly character actress Kathleen Howard began her career as an opera singer for the Metropolitan Opera before transitioning into film work in her older years. Typically cast as miserable old battleaxes, she was unforgettable as the shrewdish wife of W.C. Fields in It's a Gift (1934). The two had previously been paired in You're Telling Me! (1934). Howard was elsewhere noteworthy in Death Takes a Holiday (1934), Man on the Flying Trapeze (1935), Ball of Fire (1941), Reckless Age (1944), Laura (1944), Mysterious Intruder (1946), Danger Woman (1946), and Born to Be Bad (1950).
