Cat. #001543212: RONALD HOWARD

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

RARE vintage 3.5 x 5.25-inch sepia-tone Associated British postcard portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen in the 1930s. In fine condition, with some minor scuffs and handling dings, invisible when the photo is viewed head-on. This is the only early signed portrait of the actor we have ever encountered. The son of Leslie Howard, British actor Ronald Howard was generally relegated to B-pictures, most notably Hammer's The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb (1964). He is perhaps best remembered for playing the title role in 1954's acclaimed "Sherlock Holmes" television series, produced by Sheldon Reynolds and co-starring Howard Marion-Crawford as Dr. Watson.
