Cat. #00158261: BRENDA JOYCE

Vintage inscribed black fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch pale yellow autograph album page, acquired in-person in the late 1930s and decorated with a small magazine image. In good condition. Lovely, wholesome former model Brenda Joyce showed real promise in The Rains Came (1939) and Maryland (1940), but, somehow, she was repeatedly handed the wrong assignments. By the mid-1940s, she was uniformly headlining in second-features at Universal and RKO, memorable in B-level horror flicks like Strange Confession (1945) and Pillow of Death (1945) with Lon Chaney, Jr., and The Spider Woman Strikes Back (1946), with Gale Sondergaard.  In 1945, she was cast as Jane in Sol Lesser's Tarzan series, one of the few blonde actresses to essay this role, abruptly retiring after Tarzan's Magic Fountain in 1949.
