Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Scarce vintage black felt-tip pen signature on a 3x5-inch tan card, dated 1978 by the original collector in typeface along the bottom edge. In good condition, with gentle toning, and nice for matting with a favorite photograph. Brilliant director Elia Kazan, who won three Oscars and was nominated for three more, created emotionally powerful classics like A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945), The Sea of Grass (1947), Gentleman's Agreement (1947), Pinky (1949), Panic in the Streets (1950), A Streetcar Named Desire (1950), Viva Zapata! (1951), On the Waterfront (1954), East of Eden (1955), Baby Doll (1956), and Splendor in the Grass (1961).  Although he directed an astounding 22 actors in performances that earned them Academy Awards or nominations-- James Dunn, Peggy Ann Garner, Dorothy McGuire, Celeste Holm, Gregory Peck, Anne Revere, Jeanne Crain, Ethel Barrymore, Ethel Waters, Karl Malden, Vivien Leigh, Kim Hunter, Marlon Brando, Anthony Quinn, Eva Marie Saint, Lee J. Cobb, Rod Steiger, Jo Van Fleet, James Dean, Carroll Baker, Mildred Dunnock, and Natalie Wood-- he fell out of favor with the acting community after naming names during the Red Scare of the early 1950s.
