Rare and choice vintage bank check, handwritten to the Musicians' Democratic Committee and boldly signed in black fountain pen in July of 1939-- the year of his last stage musical, "Very Warm for May." In fine condition, with several vertical folds and a bank cancellation stamp lightly touching a single letter of the signature. Legendary musical theater composer Jerome Kern, who is best remembered his 1927 masterpiece "Showboat," penned overĀ 700 songs for over 100 stage works, including such standards as "Ol' Man River," "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man," "A Fine Romance," "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes," "All the Things You Are," and "The Way You Look Tonight."
