Cat. #001594141: CLARENCE KOLB

Highly uncommon vintage inscribed black heavy pencil signature on a 4x5-inch tan autograph album page, acquired in-person in the 1930s. In good condition, with a small nick to the lower right-hand corner tip. With his stern, authoritarian visage and booming voice, character actor Clarence Kolb excelled at playing irascible, bombastic politicians and businessmen, oftentimes scheming and crooked. His long list of classic film credits includes Fury (1936), After the Thin Man (1936), Merrily We Live (1938), Carefree (1938), His Girl Friday (1940), Hellzapoppin' (1941), The Falcon in Danger (1943), Irish Eyes Are Smiling (1944), Adam's Rib (1949), and the Lon Chaney biopic Man of a Thousand Faces (1957), in which he portrayed himself. On television, he was unforgettable as Mr. Honeywell, Vern Albright's boss, on "My Little Margie" (1952-1955).
