Prolific, familiar-faced character actor Ed Lauter was notable as a mixed assortment of cranky authority figures and slimy villains in films like The Longest Yard (1974), French Connection II (1975), King Kong (1976), Cujo (1983), Death Wish III (1985), Revenge of the Nerds II (1987), My Blue Heaven (1990), The Rocketeer (1991), Mulholland Falls (1996), and Seabiscuit (2003).
