Rare vintage inscribed black fountain pen signature on a roughly 4x5-inch grey autograph album page, dating to the early 1930s. In good condition, referencing "Hamlet," one of his most noted stage roles. Famed Shakespearian stage actor Fritz Leiber, Sr., made a successful transition to the screen in 1917, playing kings, emperors, physicians, priests, and other men of authority for over 30 years. He is fondly remembered by fans of the horror, sci-fi and fantasy genres for his portrayals of an old nobleman in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939), Franz Lizst in Phantom of the Opera (1943), Dr. Charles Morris in Cry of the Werewolf (1944), and Venreau in Cobra Woman (1944). Elsewhere, he was a veritable scene-stealer in A Tale of Two Cities (1935), The Prince and the Pauper (1937), The Way of All Flesh (1940), All This, and Heaven Too (1940), Scarlet Street (1945), Another Part of the Forest (1948), and Samson and Delilah (1949).
