Uncommonly early inscribed violet fountain pen signature on a roughly 2x5-inch tan slip, acquired in-person by inveterate autograph hounds Rose and Irene Gellar in the early 1950s and affixed to a 4x6-inch pink album page. In good condition, with very minor glue stains in one or two spots. Gorgeous Kim Novak came to prominence with her leading role in Picnic in 1955, and went on to excellent work in films like The Man with the Golden Arm (1955), Pal Joey (1957), Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo (1958), Bell Book and Candle (1958), Middle of the Night (1959), The Notorious Landlady (1962),and Of Human Bondage (1964). After a promising start, however, Novak withdrew from the public eye in 1965 and appeared onscreen only sporadically until 1991, when she prematurely retired from the industry following a tempestuous experience with director Mike Figgis on the set of Liebestraum, which proved to be her final film.
