Enchanting, underrated leading lady Eleanor Parker was nominated for three Academy Awards, for Caged (1950), Detective Story (1951) and Interrupted Melody (1955). She is perhaps best remembered for her portrayal of icy would-be Von Trapp Elsa von Schaeder in The Sound of Music (1965).
