Extremely rare vintage 7.5 x 9.5-inch matte-finish black and white bust portrait affixed to an 11x14 mount, signed and inscribed and 1935 in New York.  In fine condition for its age, with the mount uniformly lightly toned; a few spots of soiling; and areas of very mild discoloration on the photograph, caused by the glue. Brilliant Italian novelist and playwright Luigi Pirandello was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1934, hailed for his "bold renovation of the drama and the stage." His plays, including "Six Characters in Search of an Author" and "Henry IV", are considered precursors of the Theatre of the Absurd.
