Cat. #0020311: SNUB POLLARD

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Highly rare vintage 5x7-inch sepia-tone costume portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in black fountain pen in the 1920s or 1930s. In fine condition for its age, with minor creasing to the upper right-hand edge. Short, pale, serious-looking, and always sporting a droopy mustache, Harry "Snub" Pollard appeared in hundreds of silent comedy shorts, perhaps most memorably alongside the Keystone Kops; Harold Lloyd and Bebe Daniels in the 86-film "Lonesome Luke" series; Marie Mosquini in a string of Charley Chase two-reelers; Laurel and Hardy; and Andy Clyde. From the mid-1930s until his death in 1962, he appeared in hundreds of films, usually in uncredited comic bit parts, including the recurring role of Pee Wee, sidekick to Tex Ritter, in a number of western Bs.
