Cat. #0020721: FREDDIE PRINZE, SR.

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Extremely rare vintage 8x10-inch glossy black and white publicity portrait, boldly signed and inscribed in blue felt-tip pen in the 1970s. In near fine condition, with scattered light handling bends. Young comedian Freddie Prinz rocketed to stardom on T.V.'s "Chico and the Man" (1974-1977), superbly paired with veteran character actor Jack Albertson. By his third year on the show, he had developed addictions to Quaaludes and cocaine, and was arrested for drunk driving. His marriage the prior year collapsed in 1977 and, after an appearance at the Inaugural Ball for Jimmy Carter, and phone calls to friends and family warning of suicidal thoughts, he shot himself in the head with a pistol. He died several days later, on life support, aged only 22. His autograph is understandably elusive in any format and this is the first signed portrait of Prinz we have ever offered.
