Classic Entertainment Autographs

Cat. #00299321: BARBARA READ

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Quite scarce vintage inscribed blue fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch tan autograph album page, acquired in-person on Hollywood Boulevard in September of 1937, the year she was onscreen as Beulah Bondi's and Victor Moore's insensitive brat of a granddaughter in Leo McCarey's classic tearjerker Make Way for Tomorrow. In good condition, with two magazine images affixed to two corners by the original collector. Before her tragic suicide at the age of 45, pretty Barbara Read, who was the wife of William Talman, was memorable in films like The Crime of Doctor Hallet (1938), The Shadow Returns (1946), Death Valley (1946), and The Missing Lady (1946).
