Cat. #003110: ADELINE DE WALT REYNOLDS

Quite rare vintage 10x8-inch film still from Come Live with Me (1941), shown alongside costar Jimmy Stewart, boldly signed and inscribed in blue fountain pen in the 1940s, adding "Grandma," her character name. In good condition, with negligible surface curling. After surviving the death of her husband in 1905, the San Francisco earthquake in 1906 and raising four children with no money, Adeline De Walt Reynolds decided to pursue a bachelor's degree, which she impressively completed at the age of 64. In 1940, at the age of 78, she entered films, where filmmakers capitalized upon her sweet little-old-lady looks and feisty, no-nonsense attitude. In addition to wonderful supporting work in films like Shadow of the Thin Man (1941), Come Live with Me (1941), The Tuttles of Tahiti (1942), Tales of Manhattan (1942), Iceland (1942), Street of Chance (1942), The Human Comedy (1943), Going My Way (1944), A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945), The Corn Is Green (1945), The Little Witch (1945), and The Ten Commandments (1956), she is fondly remembered by horror, sci-fi and fantasy buffs for her portrayal of Madame Zimba in Son of Dracula in 1943.
