Cat. #00311224: PAUL RICHTER

Scarce vintage 3.5 x 5.25-inch sepia-tone German "Ross" Verlag U.F.A. postcard portrait, boldly signed in black fountain pen in the late 1920s. In fine condition for its age. Wildly popular Austrian silent and early talkie film star Paul Richter's first memorable role was in Joe May's The Indian Tomb (1921), but it was with 1922's Dr. Mabuse the Gambler (1922) and Die Nibelungen (1924), both directed by Fritz Lang, that he became a bona fide sex symbol of the 1920s-- the German-language analog to Ramon Novarro and Rudolph Valentino.
