Cat. #0031124: LYDA ROBERTI

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Extremely rare vintage blue fountain pen signature on an irregularly-trimmed 2.75 x 4-inch clip from a tan autograph album page, acquired in-person in the 1930s. In good condition, beyond the uneven dimensions, with one minor stain from a bit of tape to the bottom area, well away from the writing itself. Pretty, Polish-born trapeze artist-turned-singing comedienne Lyda Roberti starred in a number of frothy Hollywood musicals of the 1930s, typically cast as glamorous man-eaters. She was especially funny in Eddie Cantor's The Kid from Spain (1932) and W.C. Fields' Million Dollar Legs (1932). Roberti briefly replaced Thelma Todd in a series of Hal Roach comedy shorts, opposite Patsy Kelly, before her fatal heart attack at the age of 31. Autographed material in any format is virtually nonexistent.
