Cat. #0032012: MARGARET RUTHERFORD

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Rare vintage 3.5 x 5.5 double-weight semi-glossy black and white chest-up portrait by Vivienne, boldly signed in green fountain pen in the 1940s. In very fine condition. Margaret Rutherford, that great goofy, eccentric English character actress of the stage and screen, was unforgettable in the film adaptations of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit (1945) and Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest (1952). She went on to famously play Agatha Christie's elderly amateur detective Miss Marple in the wildly popular film series of the 1960s. In 1963, she earned an Oscar for her portrayal of the Duchess of Brighton in The VIPs (1963).
