Cat. #003222321: CLARINE SEYMOUR

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

One of only three autographed portraits known to exist of beautiful, doomed actress Clarine Seymour, who died of an intestinal ailment while filming Way Down East (1920) with Lillian Gish for D.W. Griffith, aged only 22 years. In good condition, with minor edge wear. She was a favorite performer of Griffith's, whom he envisioned as the ideal partner for Robert Harron-- who also died too young. Seymour had previously starred in silent comedy serials with Stan Laurel for Hal Roach, but left when she was being strong-armed into performing her own stunts. A holy grail for those who collect autographs related to Griffith's marvelous circle of acting stars.
