Highly scarce antique sepia-tone cabinet portrait of the author of the anti-slavery novel Uncle Tom's Cabin (1852), which undoubtedly helped paved the way for the American Civil War the following decade, boldly signed in brown fountain pen along the lower border of the mount.  In fine condition, with a faint background spot, a small abrasion to the top left border, and a minor area of staining to the verso.
