Uncommonly early and large 11x14-inch black and white portrait at around age 8, boldly signed and inscribed to inveterate collector Jess Houghlin-- misspelling his name, which she probably misheard while signing this for him in-person-- in the 1930s. In good condition for its age, with a vaguely orange tone to the face, where the photo may once have been partially color-tinted. Bright, bouncy, impossibly cheerful Shirley Temple was easily the most popular and famous child star of all-time. Entering films at age 3, she acted, sang and danced her way into millions of hearts in classic films like Stand Up and Cheer! (1934), Little Miss Marker (1934), Baby Take a Bow (1934), Bright Eyes (1934), Curly Top (1935), Captain January (1936), Poor Little Rich Girl (1936), Dimples (1936), Heidi (1937), Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm (1938), The Little Princess (1939), and, in adolescence, Since You Went Away (1944), I'll Be Seeing You (1944), and The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer (1947). After phasing out of her movie career, she later served as an ambassador to Ghana and Czechoslovakia.
