Cat. #00520332: ANDREW TOMBES

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Exceedingly rare vintage inscribed blue fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch pink album page, acquired in-person in the 1940s and decorated with a small Players Directory image. Godfather (1972) star Richard Conte signs on the verso. In good condition. Note that the image of the star shown here, alongside the scan of the autograph, is not included. GREAT character actor Andy Tombes was said to have a surname that predestined him to play the undertakers and B-movie heavies he played in Road to Morocco (1942), The Mad Ghoul (1943) and other films. His endless list of other credits include parts as doctors, cops, lawyers, mayors, judges, ministers, drunks, guards, and townsfolk in King of Burlesque (1936), The Holy Terror (1937), Charlie Chan at the Olympics (1937), Wolf of New York (1940), The Wild Man of Borneo (1941), Meet John Doe (1941), Louisiana Purchase (1941), Hellzapoppin' (1941), Larceny, Inc. (1942), My Gal Sal (1942), Du Barry Was a Lady (1943), Swing Fever (1943), Riding High (1943), Phantom Lady (1944), Reckless Age (1944), Murder in the Blue Room (1944), Can't Help Singing (1944), Rhapsody in Blue (1945), Don't Gence Me In (1945), The Devil Thumbs a Ride (1947), The Fabulous Dorseys (1947), Copacabana (1947), My Wild Irish Rose (1947), and Oh, You Beautiful Doll (1949).
