Beautiful 8x10-inch black and white portrait, apparently a 1950s glossy restrike of a 1940s image, boldly signed and inscribed, with holiday wishes, in blue fountain pen around the late 1950s. Angling toward a light source reveals some surface creases, which are generally invisible when the piece is viewed head-on; otherwise, in good condition. Uncommon in pre-1980s examples. Breathtaking leading lady Gene Tierney played an assortment of virginal and utterly untrustworthy types in classic films like The Shanghai Gesture (1941); Heaven Can Wait (1943); Laura (1944); A Bell for Adano (1945); Leave Her to Heaven (1945), for which she was nominated for an Oscar; Dragonwyck (1946); The Razor's Edge (1946); and The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947).
