Extremely rare vintage fountain pen signature-- just the second we have ever encountered-- on a roughly 3x4-inch portion of a tan scrapbook page, acquired in-person by inveterate collectors Frances and Violet Zane in the 1950s. In good condition, with irregular trimming and a bit of newspaper affixed to the upper left-hand corner. Note that the image of the star shown alongside the scan of the autograph here is not actually included. Stage and movie character actor Philip Tonge is perhaps best remembered for his portrayal of Julian Spellhammer in the Christmas classic Miracle on 34th Street (1947), and was elsewhere noteworthy in His Double Life (1933), Hans Christian Andersen (1952), horror's House of Wax (1933), Witness for the Prosecution (1957), Les Girls (1957), Macabre (1958), Invisible Invaders (1959), and This Earth Is Mine (1959).
