Cat. #00524233: NATALIE TRUNDY

Scarce 8x10-inch black and white portrait, boldly signed in blue felt-tip marker in the 1990s. In very good condition. Fair, freckled leading lady Natalie Trundy was lauded by critics for her very first film role as a mixed-up teenager in The Careless Years (1957). Her subsequent film roles were acceptable, if not as impressive, although she worked often, thanks to the influence of her producer-husband Arthur Jacobs. Given plenty of screen time as Jimmy Stewart's daughter Susan in Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation (1962), Trundy seemed poised for a stellar career, but in 1962, she suffered a broken back in an auto accident, and was out of commission for several years. Probably her most noteworthy credit of the ealry 1960s was her portrayal of Ellen Marshall in the classic 1963 episode of T.V.'s "The Twilight Zone" entitled "Valley of the Shadow." She made her comeback in the sci-fi classic Planet of the Apes (1969), produced by her husband, and went on to appear in all four of the beloved sequels. After her husband's death in 1973, Trundy retired again, slipping into obscurity. Her autograph is surprisingly elusive in any format, this being the third signed portrait we have ever encountered.
