The two-time Oscar-nominated Scandinavian leading lady, dubbed the Norwegian Angel, is best known for her numerous collaborations with director Ingmar Bergman, including Persona (1966), Shame (1968), the horror film Hour of the Wolf (1968), The Passion of Anna (1969), Cries and Whispers (1972), Face to Face (1976), The Serpent's Egg (1977), Autumn Sonata (1978), and Saraband (2003). Elsewhere, she was memorable in The Emigrants (1971), The Night Visitor (1971), Pope Joan (1972), The Abdication (1974), Juan Luis Bunuel's vampire flick Leonor (1975), and Dangerous Moves (1984).
