Rare vintage inscribed black fountain pen signature on a 4x6-inch tan album page-- the first we have encountered in years-- acquired in-person following a play appearance in 1943. In good condition, with some uneven trimming to two edges. Note that the image of the star shown alongside the scan of the autograph here is not actually included with the item. Veteran stage actress Evelyn Varden, remembered for more than 20 memorable Broadway roles, made her film debut in 1949, playing gabby, absent-minded matronly types in films like Pinky (1949), Cheaper by the Dozen (1950), Phone Call from a Stranger (1952) and The Night of the Hunter (1955).  Horror buffs will remember her as the Penmarks' insufferable next-door neighbor Monica Breedlove in the camp classic The Bad Seed (1956).
