Cat. #00575314: ORSON WELLES

Rare and FANTASTIC vintage 8x10-inch black and white publicity portrait villainous, murderous landowner Virgil Renchler in 1957's Man in the Shadow-- a film that touched on the now especially relevant theme of illegal immigration over the southern border of the United States-- boldly signed and inscribed in thick, black marker, probably in the early 1960s. In good condition, with minor edgewear. Brilliant Orson Welles was Oscar nominated for directing and starring in Citizen Kane (1941), and shared a trophy with Herman J. Mankiewicz for the screenplay. Other highlights of his extraordinary career include The Magnificent Ambersons (1942); Journey Into Fear (1943); The Stranger (1946); Lady of Shanghai (1947); Confidential Report (1955); and Touch of Evil (1958). He is also remembered for his infamous "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast of 1938, which scared the bejesus out of those who tuned in too late to know it wasn't a news announcement.
