Cat. #00576522: MARJORIE WHITE

Sorry, this item has already been sold.

Absolutely impossible to find vintage black fountain pen signature on a 1.75 x 2-inch tan birthday book page, acquired in-person in the 1930s. Actress Aileen Pringle and the midge performer Ruth Smith-- a Wizard of Oz (1939) munchkin-- sign below her. In good condition. Note that the image of the star shown here alongside the scan of the autograph is not included. Adorable Marjorie White started out in a vaudeville team with her sister, Thelma White, who was later memorable in the cult classic Reefer Madness (1936). Pretty as a picture, she dazzled on screen in films like Happy Days (1929), Sunny Side Up (1929), Possessed (1931), the Wheeler and Woolsey flick Diplomaniacs (1933), and the Three Stooges film Woman Haters (1934), in which she played Larry Fine's wife. She is also remembered for Charlie Chan fans for her role in The Black Camel (1931) with Warner Oland and Bela Lugosi. In 1935, at the age of 31, she was riding in a car driven by a friend, Marlow M. Lovell, who was driving recklessly. He sideswiped another car-- a newly-married couple about to embark on their honeymoon-- and White's car flipped over. Sge died of an internal hemorrhage the following day. This is just the third example of her autograph we have ever seen.
